THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Crime branch investigation into Saritha’s letter may fizzle out soon as the Crime Branch may find it difficult to proceed with the case due to political pressure, though they may register the case.
The inquiry was handed over to the Crime Branch on the basis of a complaint lodged by Jose K Mani MP, seeking the source of the letter. As Saritha continues to say that nobody mentioned in the “fake letter” had sexually abused her, the case may meet a dead end even in the initial stage.
The Crime branch may also find it difficult to go in search of the source of the letter as the investigation may, then, extend to top-rung politicians. In that case, they may have to face extreme political pressure to sit on the case.
Police will not be able to do anything if Saritha doesn’t co-operate with the investigation. The police may also find it difficult to take custody of Saritha’s letter. Also, since the case is with the Crime branch, its progress can be delayed indefinitely.
