Director Jayaraj – Mammootty team’s film ‘The Train’, was released on May 27, 2011 in 67 centers across Kerala. According to public comments from cinemas and other reports the film is getting below average response and the film was thrown away from 37 of 67 theaters within a week of its release.
Reports says, the film had collected around 1 Crore in its opening week from 67 centers, that means ‘The Train’ collected around Rs 1.5 Lakhs from per theater.
The film is produced by Mumbai based Harvest Dreams Private Limited and written by Jayaraj. Jayasurya, Jagathy, Anchal Sabarwal, Sheena, Abhimanyu, Sabitha Jayaraj, Anupam Kher, and Padmakumar are the other main stars in ‘The Train’.
The film is based on the 11 July 2006 Mumbai train bombings. The film is a take on the lives of Malayalee families affected by the bomb blasts. Mammootty plays a police officer who is a keen observer. The story involves bomb blasting in seven different railways (stations and on train).
Remember Mammootty’s last released film ‘Agust 15′ also a big flop at the box office.
