Thachankari case : VS wrote to Chief Mininster

Thursday, June 09, 2011: Opposition leader and former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan today came down heavily on the state government in connection with the Thachankary row. Achuthanandan opined that the government must retreat from their decision to annul the suspension of IG Tomin J Thachankary.
In a letter to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, VS informed that Thachankary was suspended from service for violating service rules by going abroad without permission from the government.
Thachankary ran into trouble after the Indian Ambassador in Qatar complained of the foreign trip made by him. The Ambassador gave a formal complaint to the union Home ministry accusing Thachankary of having talks with terror groups while staying in Qatar.
