Guwahati:  Just hours after the Kalka Mail derailed today in Uttar Pradesh claiming 31 lives, another train has derailed in Assam.

Four bogies of the Guwahati-Puri Express derailed near Rangia, 65 kilometres from the capital Guwahati.

At least fifty people have been injured in the accident.

"There have been few casualties", SK Roy, District Collector of Kamrup told NDTV.

The engine and four bogies derailed in the remote area at around 8.30 pm. It is suspected that the derailment took place following an explosion. But officials are yet to confirm it.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have rushed to the spot and a relief train has been sent to the derailment site from Bongaigaon.

More details are awaited.
