Wednesday, July 06, 2011: State Education Minister, PK Abdu Rabb informed that the state government was planning to re-introduce Onam and Christmas examinations in state-run schools.Minister Abdu Rabb, informed this during an interaction with teachers’ organisations here on Tuesday. The previous LDF government had stopped Onam and Christmas examinations in schools, bringing to an end a practice followed for decades. It had instead proposed a half-yearly exam during October and a final exam during March/April.
Minister added that the government would consider the demand to make the teachers-student ratio 1:30 in the wake of many teachers’ facing a threat to their jobs because of huge drop in the number of students in government / aided schools.
