Pay revision: CM to hold talks with Govt doctors today

Sunday, July 24, 2011: Chief Minister-Oommen Chandy and Health Minister- Adoor Prakash will hold a third round of talks with the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) who have threatened to go on indefinite strike from July 30 in connection with their pay revision issues.
Some of the demands put forward by the doctors are to merge special allowance with basic salary, to increase the allowances of specialist doctors. The KGMOA had earlier deferred their indefinite strike plan from July 19 to 30 after the government agreed to approve the demands.

Though the indefinite strike plan has been deferred, the doctors will continue their non-cooperation agitation till a final decision on their pay revision issues is arrived at, a senior spokesperson of the KGMOA said.
This is the second time that the KGMOA has deferred its strike plan. Its initial plan to go on strike from June 10 was deferred by a month following a request from the Chief Minister that the government needed more time to study the doctors’ grievances.
