THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/KOLLAM: The police Wednesday took into custody the main accused in connection with the theft of panchaloha idol worth crore from the Anandavalleeswaram temple in Kollam coming under the devaswom board. He was arrested from his rented house at Pothencode in the capital city. The person taken into custody has been identified as Shyam Kumar alias Sanal Kumar (40) of Balaramapuram.
The police recovered an idol from his house kept for sale. He was taken into custody by the special squad of Kollam city police commissioner with the help of Pothencode police. Police have intensified search for his close aide. Shyam involved in many theft cases in Kollam was released from Kollam district jail a few months before.
