Vigilance’ factual report seeking Mani’s prosecution revealed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The factual report of the vigilance recommending to prosecute Finance Minister K M Mani in the case of accepting a bribe of Rs one crore to open the closed bars, has been exposed. The report of vigilance SP says that there is proof for Mani accepting bribe. Vigilance director Winson M Paul submitted a report acquitting Mani at the vigilance court when this report existed.  However, when the court directed to produce all documents, this report also reached there.

The report said Mani accepted a total bribe of Rs 25 lakh-- Rs 10 lakh at his house in Pala and 15 lakh at his official residence in the capital city. The report says even though Mani denied meeting bar owners, the latter had accepted it. There are proof for giving money to Mani on March 22 in 2014. The amount collected for Mani in March, April and May months has not been entered in bar hotel association’s register. There is no reply for the question for what purpose the money was collected.

The statement of Ambili, driver of Biju Ramesh, who levelled the allegation against Mani, has been proved right in the lie detector test, conducted on him. The 386-page report said bar association president Rajkumar Unni and bar owner Sreevatsan not appearing for the lie detector test also raised suspicion.
