THRISSUR: The FIR of the police said Haneefa, a congress activist of Chavakkad, was murdered due to political enmity. The group squabbles in the congress ended in the murder, the FIR said. Haneefa’s mother, a key witness told police that Shameer, arrested in the case, killed her son. Afzal and Fazalu Anzar helped Shameer in committing the crime, the FIR said.
The police had earlier stated that the connection with the drug mafia is behind the murder. Haneefa, ‘I’ group leader was stabbed to death last Friday night. Shameer was taken into custody the next day itself. Party Guruvayur block president Gopaprathapan was suspended from the party for helping the accused to commit the crime.
