Fame of playback singers falling, says K S Chitra

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fame of playback singers in films are seen falling, said noted singer K S Chitra. Earlier, we used to tell new singers to take singing as profession, but today we cannot say that.

Talking to the media when she came to attend the Onam celebrations of the tourism department, she said many singers are seen coming and going. We are not able to identify the singer by hearing their songs. Malayalam films accept singers of other languages but the singers of Malayalam films are not accepted there. Shreya Ghoshal is a first class singer. Her songs and the recognition she gets cannot be blamed. Along with that chances should be given to our children also.

It is good to move with the flow of music. New generation music and old ones should not be seen separately. As our lifestyles have changed, music is also changing. Our work is over after a song is recorded. We don’t go behind that and ask how that was mixed. Children are getting trained through reality shows. The shooting of all shows is not reality, she said.
