Onam markets not to be affected, says Chandy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that there is no such situation that the functioning of Onam Markets would be affected in the name of financial crisis faced by the Consumerfed. The amount required by consumerfed has been given. Apart from that, permission has been given to take a loan of 150 crore in government’s guarantee. Even after giving government’s guarantee, they were not able to achieve that amount.

When asked on the complaint that the accused in elephant poaching case was harassed cruelly, he said the government is against custodial death.Strict steps will be taken if a complaint is lodged, he said.

The cabinet decided to sanction the required financial help to actor Innocent going abroad for cancer treatment.  As an MP, he is eligible for the benefit. Any kind of help would be provided to him, he said.
