Bar scam case: LDF files plea seeking further probe

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LDF Friday filed a plea in the vigilance court seeking a further probe in the bar scam case against Finance Minister K M Mani. The plea was filed by LDF convenor Vaikkom Viswan. The LDF informed the court that they are suspicious on the involvement of chief minister and home minister in the probe.

BJP state president V Muraleedharan, AAP leader Sara Joseph and advocates Sunny Mathew and Nagarajan filed a plea to be a party in the case.

The court rejected the demand of an advocate asking not to consider any other pleas except LDF’s.

In the meanwhile, opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, a complainant in the bar case and bar hotel association working president Biju Ramesh sought more time to submit their argument on the report seeking closure of the case. They sought more time as the copy of documents in connection with the case has not been obtained. The court will consider the case again on August 22.

The court did not consider investigating official’s final report seeking permission to end the case. SP R Sukesan informed the court that there is no proof to show that Mani accepted bribe from bar owners. In this situation, permission was sought to end the case.
