Amar Akbar Antony ...Paisa Vasool !!!

Amar Akbar Antony marks the directorial debut of the renowned artiste Nadir Shah. Coming from an artiste with a repertoire like Nadir Shah you naturally know what to expect and the promos all promised an absolute fun film and that's exactly what the film is. Amar Akbar Antony is high on entertainment quotient... its really after a long time that I got to witness a hugely entertaining enjoyable film like this.

Nadir Shah is an all-rounder... we have seen him as a singer, as an actor, as a mimicry artiste, as a TV host, as a lyricist etc. This avatar that of a filmmaker was his dream and Nadir Shah deserves tremendous applause for having achieved his dream in the form of Amar Akbar Antony. Malayalis wont never forget the iconic comic album 'De Maveli Kombathu' which used to grace our Onam festivities....conceived by Nadirshah, it was not just aimed merely to make us laugh... it was indeed a mockery of the various social issues relevant during those times...a humorous social commentary... that brings me to the best aspect of the film Amar Akbar Antony... Despite being a nonstop laughathon, the film also manages to raise our attention towards a social issue prevalent in our society, a matter of grievous concern. But if the question is whether the director has been completely successful in making the serious side of a laugh riot like this quite impactful, the answer would be probably No...and that's where the movie remains flawed. But that's just about okay considering the fact that the film hardly leaves you uninterested or bored. You are in for a full-fledged entertainer and the film serves that purpose in style.

SubmitAs the three not so well-off youngsters who dream to visit Pattaya Amar-Akbar-Antony, Prithviraj Jayasurya and Indrajith does a splendid job. It's quite difficult to pick who's the best as all the three were equally good.  You get to see them together after a hiatus of 9 years, exactly after the sensational Classmates. Chemistry between the lead actors is still a treat to watch and they together makes this film such a delight. Rest of the cast including Kalabhavan Shajon, Paashanam Shaji, KPAC Lalitha, Sasi Kalinga, Srinda and Asif Ali in a wonderful cameo have done a fabulous job. The hilarious screenplay has been written by Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan. The peppy songs have been composed and written by Nadirshah and needless to say he has also crooned most of these songs. Sujith Vasudev's cinematography is adequate. If you are on the lookout for a film to forget everything and laugh your hearts out, Amar Akbar Antony might be the perfect choice.

Definitely worth watching.
