NEW DELHI: BJP National Executive member Shobha Surendran has alleged that Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan who has come out to criticise Microfinance schemes is, in effect, causing damages to the Ezhava Community.
“It was because of microfinance schemes that poor women in the community were able to wear at least a pinch of gold and improve their living conditions. It is now known that SNDP yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan has been keeping SN Trust members posted about the financial transactions of the trust. When VS seeks CBI probe into the financial dealings of the trust, will he be ready to demand the same from bishops and Muslim management with regards to the institutions run by them?. The CPM, which has lost the support of Ezhava community is now trying to befriend communal groups like INL and PDP. Even Muslim League is demanding bifurcation of Malappuram, citing its huge population,” she said, adding that "State BJP will demand the union health minister to implement population control projects in the State".
