Cannon balls will not hinder light and sound show
KANNUR: Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar today said cannon balls have been excavated at the historic Saint Angelos Fort also called Kannur fort was a rare treasure unearthed in the state. Talking to newspersons at the Fort, after seeing the cannon balls, he said the finding of the huge quantity of cannon balls would not affect the permanent light and sound show.
He said the importance of Kannur Fort has been enhanced following this excavation, and assured that the state government wouldl help the preservation of the cannon balls in the Fort if Archeological Survey of India (ASI) asks. He pointed out that the excavation of Cannon ball from a protected monument under ASI will be known to the World as historical unearthed.
Meanwhile, ASI Thrissur circle Assistant Archaeologist C Kumaran, who led the excavation team told UNI that today they recovered 64000 cannon balls and more than 25,500 were recovered from three- and half of the fourth pit.
