MALAPPURAM: The Thenhippalam police has registered a case against seven students on the complaint regarding attack on girl students of the Calicut University. The case has been registered against Unnikrishnan, Shabeer, Rejeesh Lal, Soumith, Abhinav, Rejeesh and Vishnu, students of psychology, sociology and history departments of Calicut University. Another student is also heard to be an accused and with that, a case will be registered against eight.
Police decided to register case against the students after the complaint of the girl students was handed over to the police. They have complained on the acts of harassment, verbal threats, physical violence, insulting use of obscene language and gestures, teasing in public places and on campus roads, objectionable bodily exposure and suggestive behaviour on the campus.
The university handed over the complaint to the police after the studentswrote their complaints against the college authorities on balloons and protested in a new way. Meantime, Education Minister P K Abfu Rabb said further steps will be considered after getting the report.
