Daya Bai ‘forced off’ KSRTC bus

THRIUSSUR: Renowned social activist Daya Bai was allegedly forced out of a KSRTC bus on Saturday. The social worker has complained that the driver and conductor of the bus humiliated her by saying abusive words and forced her out of the bus after she asked them the way.

The incident happened in Aluva on Saturday night. She was travelling towards Aluva from Thrissur.

Daya Bai’s social activities centred on Gonds clan of Adivasi regions in Madhya Pradesh. Though born and brought up in Pala, Kottayam, she is currently settled at Barul in Chhindwara district.

Daya Bai was an active participant in environmental agitations including Naramda Bachao agitation. Her autobiography Pacha Viral is very famous.
