THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The investigation team has decided to invoke KAAPA (Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act), against Joshy, the main accused in the online sex racket case.
The Goonda Act is being invoked as the police came to the conclusion that Joshy, a ‘veteran’ in flesh trade with decades’ experience and an accused in a number of sex scandals including Paravur-Varappuzha sexual harassment cases, continued with his business as he could easily escape from the clutches of the loophole-riddled crime charges framed against him.
The police have received favourable legal advice for invoking the act as Joshy is an accused in about ten cases including the three cases registered with the Cyber Crime Police. They are now collecting evidence against him from various police stations where there are cases existing against him.
Joshy, who is an accused in the criminal case (29/15, 34/15) registered by the Cybercrime police for allegedly running sex racket using photos and descriptions of minor girls on Facebook pages and websites, is now in police remand. Joshy and his team were arrested based on a complaint registered by a child rights activist.
In the online sex racket case in which about 30 persons including Joshy’s son Joyce, Bikni model Reshmi R Nair and kiss of love activist Rahul Pasupalan were arrested, the collection of evidence and interrogation are almost complete. As that is the case, the investigating officials are getting ready to file the charge sheet against them at the earliest.
