Man held on abuse charges

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 35-year-old man, Nawaz of Karimadom Colony, was arrested by the Fort police on Tuesday based on a complaint that he had sexually abused a 12-year-old boy. The police said Nawaz, who was earlier detained under the Kerala Antisocial Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA), had on Monday lured the boy, a neighbour of his, to his house and attempted to molest him. The boy escaped and told the police that this was not the first time that Nawaz was abusing him. He had kept quiet because Nawaz had allegedly threatened to kill him. The accused was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody, police said.
