THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The much-touted online exams announced by State’s Technical University have been cancelled. The move to hand over the charge to conduct the exam to a private agency was also cancelled. The decision was taken in the meeting held under the chairmanship of Education Minister Abdu Rabb. The meeting decided to hold first semester exam manually and to chart out the exam dates after Christmas.
A consensus was also reached to hold second semester exam online if the varsity developed its own software.
As the involvement of a private agency in the online exam had created a controversy, the B Tech, M tech exams which were supposed to have started on the 4th of this month were postponed.
All exams of Technical University including M Tech exams of 10 papers under 10 syllabus were dropped after the intervention of the chief minister.
A strict instruction in this regard was given by the chief minister after calling Technical varsity VC Kuncheriya P Issac and PVC M Abdul Rahman to the Assembly house. The chief minister had insisted that the exams should be conducted only after taking students, teachers and parents into confidence.
The chief minister’s intervention happened after Kerala Kaumudi brought out a report on the ‘mess’ created over M Tech exams.
