Woman forced to drink acid, dies; husband hangs self

ADIMALI: Doubting husband, reportedly killed her wife after pouring acid into her mouth and face. After committing the crime, he got inside his house and hanged himself.

The shocking incident happened at 10:30 pm on Monday at Adimali Irumbu Palam. It was Shibu’s (35)  wife Jotsina  (30) who was found dead, having consumed poison. It is said that Shibu doubted her wife’s fidelity and he even tried to kill her six months ago by tightening noose around her neck and a case was registered by Adimali police in this regard.

Following the police case, Shibu left for Ernakulam and started working in a hotel there, according to the police. After two months he returned to his wife with a compromise formula. Two days he stayed with her and returned to Ernakulam but returned yesterday noon.   

He tried to cosy up with her wife and apologised to her for his past “wrong” deeds. Considering her children’s future, Jotsina agreed for reconciliation and even agreed to withdraw the case against him. The couple went to sleep after ensuring that their children Sona (10) and Alan (8) were asleep. After about half an hour, Shibu woke up and forcefully made his wife drink the acid, which he had secretly carried with him. Though she managed to run out screaming aloud, Shibu fled from the place. The neighbours who came out of their house saw her plight and immediately took her to hospital but she died on the way.
After the crowd had dispersed from Shibu’s house, he barged into the house and committed suicide by hanging self.
