Petition against Biju Ramesh disposed of

KOCHI: Kerala High Court has disposed of a petition seeking to file a case against Bar Owner Biju Ramesh in the bar case. The case was filed by Ernakulam Pachalam native K G Venugopal.

While disposing of the plea, the court instructed the petitioner to approach an appropriate bench. The Division bench comprising Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A M Shefeeq disposed of the petition, stating that Venugopal had given the complaint to file a case as Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and cases linked to Prevention of Corruption Act didn’t come under PILs.

Biju had submitted in the court that he had paid bribe to public servants in order to reduce Bar licence. This also had appeared in the media. The petitioner contended that both accepting and paying bribe are punishable acts and hence a case should be filed against Biju Ramesh.
