Man beaten to death after mistaken as thief

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 34-year-old youth was allegedly beaten to death after mistaken for a thief. The youth, a native of Tamil Nadu, was handed over to the police by the local residents after thrashing him. The youth has been identified as Yesudas of Ambasamudram. The incident happened early Tuesday morning at Poonthura.

Yesudas and his family were living in a rented house near Manikyavilakam. Yesudas, who was under treatment for alcohol, went out early morning to attend nature’s call. When he was spotted near the premises of Yogeshan’s house, they mistook him as a thief and created a commotion. He was beaten severely by the local residents and then handed him over to the police. By the time he was taken to the General Hospital, he was confirmed dead. The body has been shifted to medical college hospital for post mortem. Yogeshanan, Sanu and Anoop have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
