All sectors collapsed under Chandy govt: Pinarayi

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has said all sectors in Kerala had collapsed under the rule of Oommen Chandy government. “All sectors including agriculture, education and industries have faced destruction. The government has become a burden for the people,” said Pinarayi while addressing CPM cadres at the concluding function of Nava Kerala march at Shangumugham on Monday.

“It is a humiliation for Kerala to have a chief minister like Chandy, who is in ‘destructive phase’. He has got the title of ‘the chief minister who can’t come out in the public’. The Congress should ask tainted ministers Chandy and Aryadan to keep off the ministry,” he said.

Regarding questions over CPM’s liquor policy Pinarayi Vijayan said, CPM was for abstinence from liquor and was against liquor ban. But, the party would campaign for reduction in liquor consumption.

Pinarayi said the party need not declare its liquor policy as it was not the right time for it then.

However, most part of his speech dealt on the problems and issues of Kerala and ways conceived by the party to sort them out.
Earlier, addressing the crowd on the occasion, CPM National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said in the coming Assembly election, LDF was the only alternative before the voters.
