Minister Adoor Prakash to face trial in corruption case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Director N Shankar Reddy rejected vigilance’ report demanding to write off the corruption case against Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash. With this, the minister will have to face trial in the case now.

The vigilance conducted a probe on the allegation that he demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lakh for sanctioning a ration depot at Omasseri in Kozhikode when he was the serving as the food minister during 2004 to 2006.

The complaint was lodged by congress leaders P C Sachithran and N K Abdurahiman. A charge sheet was filed against five including the minister and the court had started the proceedings. However, the prosecution demanded a further probe. Kozhikode vigilance unit suggested to exempt those included in the case from the accused list after cancelling the charge sheet filed, but the director dismissed it.
