Governor ratifies appointment of Saju George as PSC secretary

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The governor Wednesday ratified the appointment of Saju George as the PSC secretary. The governor approved the appointment on the conditions that he should obtain the consent of the panel examining his caste and he should oblige the investigating report against him. PSC chairman had opposed his appointment following complaints on his caste certificate. The complaint is that he undeservingly accepted the benefits for scheduled tribes.

The governor sought an explanation after the complaint was produced before him. The government informed the governor that Saju was appointed after settling the complaint against him. Dissatisfied with it, the governor sought more documents.

The governor returned the file a second time along with the complaint against Saju. The government recommended him, then senior additional secretary of PSC, for the new post in January last. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy then explained that he was recommended for the post after settling the complaints on his caste.
