Monday, July 11, 2011: The eviction process on the encroached lands in the Munnar area has started here on Monday. The government had earlier issued orders allowing the encroachers to move out of the encroached land or face forced eviction in addition to legal process.
Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan who reached here on Sunday informed that the eviction process will be carried out in three stages and the government will take necessary steps to stop further encroachments in the area.
Minister added that he was not ready to create any sort of controversy by evicting any party offices in the area. An all-party meeting would be convened to tackle any such instances during the eviction process.
“We will resort to legal action to evict the encroachers in the area”, Thiruvanchoor said. The government will not wreak havoc in the name of reclaiming the land.
