Petrol Pumps to remain closed today

Monday, July 11, 2011: The All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders had informed that all the petrol pumps in the state would pull down its shutters today demanding various issues.
The oil companies should stop the procedure of taking the commission of five paisa from each litre sold to customers instead of giving a reasonable commission to the dealers by the oil company, Federation state secretary M Radhakrishnan said in a statement.
Though the state and centre had given green signal to start new pumps in the state, the oil companies were distorting the criteria to start more than 500 petrol pumps at taluk level, he alleged and said that the oil companies should go back from this move.
While the oil companies were trying force dealers to implement wages rules like in the Western countries, the companies should also take steps to provide reasonable commission according to the value of purchase, instead of the commission of on their sale, he added.
