KANNUR: The Left front has confirmed its victory in Anthur Corporation in Kannur. In all 28 wards, LDF candidates won 14. Only one more seat is required for absolute majority.
In the scrutiny of nominations filed held today, LDF candidates were elected unopposed in four more divisions.
K Sheji (Vellikeel), K P Nandanan (Kanool), M Vasantha Kumari (Podikkundu) and P K Mujeeb Rahman (Punnakulangara) are the people elected.
The nominations of four Congress candidates were rejected for different reasons. The LDF won in 10 wards yesterday. Mujeed Rahman is the CPI candidate and others are CPM candidates. In Punnakulangara, last time also there was no opponent for the LDF. In the Maniyara division of Payyanoor corporation, E Vanajakshi was elected unopposed.
With the winning of four more seats, LDF gets 16 seats in the local body election in Kannur.
