Kerala decision on subsidised LPG to all on Oct 17
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A decision on providing three subsidised LPG cylinders in addition to the six fixed by the Centre to all consumers in the state would be taken at the ruling UDF liaison committee meeting next week, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Thursday.
The state cabinet Thursday discussed the matter, but referred the issue to be discussed at the next UDF meeting to be held on October 17, he told reporters here.
Chandy said the Cabinet had, however, decided to provide subsidy for gas cylinders supplied to more than 100 hostels for tribal students and 18 model residential schools. They would get the same number of gas cylinders as used last year at subsidised rates. The Cabinet sanctioned Rs.75 lakh for the subsidy. An allocation for hostels for the Scheduled Castes had not been made as the department had the needed funds.
