One more held for theft from bank
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thampanoor police have arrested one more person in connection with the theft of pawned gold from the Thiruvananthapuram Service Cooperative Bank’s branch near Gandhari Amman temple road. Circle Inspector Sheen Tharayil identified the suspect as Hari Prasad, a cashier of the bank. Earlier, the police had arrested the bank’s appraiser, Gita Ramani, in this connection. Tharayil said Gita and Hariprasad had conspired to steal, in phases, pawned gold ornaments for which no claimants had turned up in the past 10 years. They pawned the stolen gold in other banks and used the amount to acquire property and vehicles. The suspect was remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
