Mullappally not in favour of re-probe into ISRO espionage case

KOZHIKODE:  Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran Saturday said he was not in favour of further probe into the controversial ISRO espionage case.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an award function, he said there was no point of further discussion on the issue which was deliberated many years. Senior Congress leader K Muraleedharan had recently said he suspected the role of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao ousting senior leader K Karunakaran as Chief Minister linking the spy case in the wake of heightened factionalism in the party. Without naming, he also said that he knew five six senior leaders were involved in the ouster game.

Asked the role of Defence Minister (now) A K Antony in the issue, he said there was no point of making him a target unnecessarily. On leaders of the ruling United Democratic Front making conflicting states on different issues, he said it was not fair on their part to talk publicly. They should talk at appropriate UDF fora aimed at maintaining unity in the front.

Presenting the Resident Chowara Parameswaran Award to Mathrubhumi Staff Reporter Reji R Nair, he urged the journalists to take up issues relating to the people. Cautioning them against accepting help from politicians, he said by doing so they themselves were indulging in corruption. The award was instituted by the Kerala Press Academy.
