KULATHUPUZHA: A Tamil Nadu woman, the main accused in a failed ganja smuggling attempt in the forest area near here, has been arrested. The arrested person is Poonkodi (38) from Madhura Usilampatti Keeripetti and the arrest was carried out by a team led by Kulathupuzha CI C L Sudheer.
Poonkodi was arrested from Tamil Nadu after the police started search based on the information that Poonkodi belonged to an inter-State ganja smuggling racket.
The smuggling came to light on February 5 during the routine checking at Achankovil Thottikkuzhy forest check post. The smugglers had left the car they were travelling near the check post and left the place. The police later recovered 4.25 kg ganja from the car. Later, they arrested Santhu Bahuleyan (28), Nirakkan Santhosh (41) and Vipin from different places. They had revealed to the police that Poonkodi supplied them ganja bought from Usilampatti in Tamil Nadu.
