KOCHI: Kerala High Court has stayed the Thrissur Vigilance court order permitting Vigilance inquiry against nine persons including DGP K S Balasubramaniam, based on the complaint that they had helped Chandrbose murder case accused Muhammed Nisham.
Justice P Ubaidullah gave the stay, pointing out that the Thrissur Vigilance court had misused its power by ordering investigation based on media reports. “Courts should be more alert when ordering probe into such issues,” he said.
“The Thrissur Vigilance court had jumped into decisions without properly verifying facts. The court was not ready to confirm facts by examining evidence. Under this circumstances, there is no relevance for probe,” the court made this observation in reply to the petition filed by the DGP against the Thrissur Vigilance order, pointing out that the Vigilance inquiry will hinder the investigation into the Chandrabose murder case.
Besides the DGP, the Vigilance Court had ordered probe against former City police commissioner Jacob Job, Guruvayur Assistant Police Commissioner N Jayachandran Pillai, Peramangalam CI P C Biju Kumar, Control Room Additional SI Krishnakumar and Civil police officers Binan Rajan, Thomas, and Preeth.
