Youth rescued from ‘quotation’ team

KODUNGALLUR: A youth who was reportedly kidnapped by a quotation team was rescued by locals on Tuesday. The five-member quotation team was also arrested in this connection. It was one Baheer’s son Fazeer (28), a resident of Edavanakkad, who was made hostage and whisked away in a car.    

The quotation team from Malappuram Mongan took Fazeer as hostage from near the Oberon Mall. They took him in their car to Malappuram after making him lie under the seat. On the way, they stopped the car at Mathilmoola along NH 17 for having food. At that time, Fazeer tried to escape and luckily this was notice by the locals, who came to his rescue. They rounded off the car and caught hold of the kidnappers.   

However it is now known that Fazeer had been absconding after purchasing a bullet bike worth Rs 60,000 by paying just half the amount. It is suspected that his financiers had hired the quotation team in order to threaten him to pay rest of the amount. Mathilakam police have arrested Shijas (30), Arshad (30), Parampil Shamseer (19), Jamseer (29) and Ibrahim (45) in this connection.
