THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An attempt was made today to kill an auto-driver who was asleep in his home at Karichara near Kaniyapuram. The victim, Karichara Cherukayalkara resident Prabhakaran’s son Pramoj (34), has been admitted to Medical College hospital with severe injuries. His condition is said to be serious.
Pramoj who has sustained deep wounds on head and face is not out of danger, according to doctors. Most injuries are on around his ears and eyes.
The incident happened today 1 am. He was sleeping inside his new house that was under construction.
The attacker who slipped into the house through the temporary door started hacking him repeatedly. Pramod who up with a jerk, just saw somebody running away. On being informed, the police rushed to the spot and shifted him to the hospital in Ambulance 108. As the house was under construction, his wife had gone to her house.
A recent incident in which a gang assaulted the police had become controversial. Mangalapuram SI, who had arrested one person in this connection, was also given transfer.
Moreover, there are also complaints on the sale of ganja in Karichara and surrounding places. The police are finding out whether today’s incident was an act of vengeance. The attackers are yet to be identified
