Bar case: Order for preliminary probe against Shankar Reddy and Sukesan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The vigilance court in the capital city ordered a preliminary probe against vigilance former director N Shankar Reddy and investigating official SP R Sukesan on the allegation of sabotaging the bar bribery case. The court asked to submit the report in 45 days after conducting the probe.

Reddy had asked Sukesan not to consider the evidence against former minister K M Mani. Reddy had sent some letters to Sukesan on December 23 and 26 in 2015 and on January 11 in 2016. The court said the third letter had asked to submit the report with no evidence. Reddy had also mentioned not to believe the statement of bar owner Biju Ramesh’s driver Ambili.

Sukesan had alleged in the court that Reddy had a crucial role in sabotaging the bar case. Some changes were made in the case diary. A factual report for a charge sheet against Mani was not approved. Sukesan’s plea had stated that probe could not be properly completed. He had also asserted that changes were made in the investigating report following pressure from Reddy and a report acquitting Mani was given.
