THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan has countered Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala’s allegation that he was working as per the instruction of the chief minister. “Speaker is not working to as per the wishes of the ruling front or the Opposition,” he said.
Chennithala had alleged that the Speaker was no ready to accept the rights of the Opposition and he was worked according to the chief minister’s eye gestures.
“The Speaker abides by rules. It is unfortunate that the Opposition is dragging the assembly proceedings to the street even as the speaker is not functioning against rules. Sufficient time is allotted to the Opposition leader in the assembly. During the question and answer hour other activities are not allowed. Even during the terms of previous governments, the Opposition leaders were given time to talk during answer sessions. As this is the case, it is not right to spread wrong impressions. In future also, all the rights of the Opposition will be protected,” the Speaker explained.
