VS seeks closing down of Image waste plant, riles party

PALAKKAD: CPM leader V S Achuthanandan has said the institution that turns a threat to human life should be closed down. His demand was to shut down Image waste plant run by Puthussery Indian Medical Association.

But, the CPM area committee said that they had not received any complaint in this regard and VS’ stand was against that of the party. Puthussery Area Committee has asked higher committees to take action against VS as his stand is against the party.

Meanwhile, the plant which is located in the vicinity of Malampuzha dam has been causing inconvenience to the locals. Discontent has been brewing among them over the health issued poised by the waste plant.

They are of the opinion that the plant has been affecting the quality of life and drinking water in the area. Local MLA and VS visited the plant after a general complaint that the plant was affecting the life of the people.
