Speaker failed to protect interests of opposition, says Chennithala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala came down heavily on Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan. Like the ruling front, the opposition too has rights in the assembly, he alleged. Talking to reporters here after the assembly was adjourned, he said the speaker’s act not allowing the opposition leader to speak was not right.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan continued his brazen attitude today also. The speaker supported this stand. The speaker has become a puppet in the hands of the chief minister. During the tenure of the UDF Government, the then opposition leader V S Achuthanandan had spoken six times during question hour. However, I was not permitted to speak, blamed Chennithala.

The chief minister has the stand which is full of insolence and arrogance. The government has stooped before the self-financing managements. The chance of the poor students to study is being spoiled. Health Minister K K Shylaja has now turned a minister who signs as per the demand of the managements, he said.
