BJP office attack: Centre seeks report

THIUVANANTHAPURAM: The Centre has sought the State government’s report over the attack on BJP’s state committee office recently.  Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today sought the report from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Rajnath called up Pinarayi and expressed the Union government’s anxiety over the incident. He also asked the chief minister not to turn a blind eye to the attacks against BJP activists and take a strong action against them.

The Centre is believed to have stepped in after BJP State President Kummanam Rajasekharan informed the Centre that the law and order in the State had gone for a toss and hence it should intervene.

The Centre has also decided to send a team of MPs to Kerala to assess the ground reality of the incident.

Bombs were hurled at BJP’s office at Kunnukuzhy on Tuesday at 11:40 in the night. The CCTV camera has captured the images of a bike-borne man hurling bombs at the office. BJP’s allegation is that CPM is behind the attack but the CPM has rejected this.
