Disproportionate assets: Decisive day for K C Joseph today

KANNUR: The Vigilance is today conducting the trial in the complaint against former minister K C Joseph over his assets. Vigilance had earlier submitted the quick verification report heeding a Thalassery Vigilance court order for the same.

Today’s court order will decide on whether the trap laid by the Vigilance for former minister K Babu would also extend to Joseph.  There is also a belief that trapping Oommen Chandy’s confidant Joseph will expose more corruptions perpetrated during the tenure of former government.

The complaint against Joseph was given in the Vigilance court by independent candidate A K Shaji from Iritti. He had contested from Irikkur constituency. The complainant had pointed out that in the affidavit given on March 24, 2011, the family asset was shown as Rs 16,97,000 but in his affidavit dated April 28, 2016, for Assembly election, the asset value was mentioned as Rs 1,32,69,578. He had submitted the affidavit through Advocate E Narayanan.

The Quick verification was conducted by a team led by Kozhikode Vigilance and Anti-Corruption bureau SP.
