Elevating VS the only major govt achievement: Chandy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ridiculing the LDF government that has completed its 100 days in office, former chief minister Oommen Chandy said that the main achievement of the government that it can trumpet is making CPM leader V S Achuthanandan the Administrative Reform Commission chairman. “Though there is media secretary and media advisor, the chief minister is distancing himself from the media. Attempts are also going on covertly and overtly to tamper with the liquor policy and help bar owners,” he alleged.

Chandy said the LDF, which had agitated when the former government made a nominal increase in the fee of self-financing medical colleges, has now increased the fee, exceedingly. Hence the LDF should be ready to open up before the public that the strikes they held during the period of the previous government came from a wrong decision. “The government’s decision to proceed with the schemes started by the former is welcome. The Opposition will support all the good ventures of the government. It is good if the government furthers the agreement signed with the Railways. We also welcome the decision to start students’ entrepreneurship scheme. But the government should not discard the high range highway project,” Chandy said.
