IT refuses to hand over details on assets of politicians

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The income tax department refused to hand over the details on the assets of former ministers, personal staff members and political leaders and the details of their assets in private money lending firms. This was the reply of the IT department to vigilance chief Jacob Thomas who sought the details of them.

If details on the assets of a person should be exposed, a case and a FIR in connection with it should be registered against him. However, the letter of the vigilance director has not mentioned any politician’s name.

The details on the huge deposits of social activists were obtained in the raid conducted in private money lending firms in branches all over the country. There are huge deposits in the name of ordinary activists. The vigilance are now searching whether they have filed the returns.
