MALAYINKEEZHU: The body of a ration shop owner hailing from Ooruttambalam was found in a canal at Maranallore, Mannadikonathu. The dead has been identified as Vellorekonam native Sreekantan Nair (57).
He was found dead today morning in the canal along Kilikottukonam at Mannadikonam, Maranallore. He had worn dhoti and the front side of the body was facing the ground. Being informed by the locals, the police reached the spot and identified the body.
It is not known how Sreekantan, who was present in his shop yesterday, fell into the canal. It is suspected that he might have slipped and fallen into the canal while walking alongside the canal. The body has been shifted to Neyyattinkara Taluk hospital for post-mortem.
