Saumya case: More evidence should be presented, says Sudheeran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president V M Sudheeran has said the government should be prepared to present more evidence in the Saumya murder case. The culprit should get maximum punishment in the case as prescribed by the law. He said this after inaugurating the State committee meeting of KPCC Vichar Vibhag on Friday.

“In the Supreme Court, there was serious flaws from the part of advocates. Govinda Chamy is cruelty personified and if he doesn’t get maximum punishment, it will be the failure of judiciary. The advocates who had won the case in the trial court were removed from the case, when it reached the Supreme Court. The new advocates who argued the case also didn’t do the homework properly. The responses seen yesterday were the mind of mothers in Kerala. The LDF government which came to power guaranteeing women’s safety should urgently intervene in the case. They should also discuss the case again with the lawyers who won the case in the trial court,” he said.

Sudheeran criticised the chief minister for allowing SFI students to block the traffic in the name of Onam celebrations yesterday and ridiculed that it happened just under the nose of a chief minister who had banned Onam celebrations in Secretariat.

Palode Ravi, Vijayan Thomas and Nedumudi Harikumar were also present on the occasion.
