Three research students suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University vice-chancellor has suspended three research students who were arrested in connection with the strike held in the University recently.

It was research union chairman and Senate member Manesh, former Union chairman and SFI unit secretary V V Ajesh, SFI Unit Committee member and department Union General Secretary S Najeeb who were arrested today.

Two weeks ago, police had arrested the striking students and removed them from the strike venue in the college. After this, the VS issued show-cause notice to the three students. Suspension was ordered as their reply to the notice was not satisfactory. In the order, it is said that a commission will be appointed to probe the incident and till then the suspension will remain.

Meanwhile, some students took out a march to the office of Joint director in protest against the suspension. They decorated the VC’s effigy with a garland of slippers.
