Order banning RSS meeting at Devaswom board temples ready

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An order banning RSS shakha activities at temples under Devaswom board is ready.

The order bans weapon and physical training within the compound walls of the temple. It was prepared as per Kerala Police Act 73 and it was accepted by the law department. The order will be issued after a perusal by the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other officials.

There was also instruction to seek the advice of law secretary on Devaswom Secretary’s order.

According to Religious Institutions Act 1988, a religious centre should not  be used for political needs. This is also clearly stated in the Police Act. The law secretary has given the advice that using the above two acts, the government could ban weapons training and physical training at temples.

Earlier Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran had said that Shakha activities within the temple would be restricted.
