Two women killed in accident

KOTTARAKKARA: Two women were killed when a private bus knocked them down after losing control. The dead have been identified as Umayath Beevi (45), wife of Nazim of Odanavattom and Sherifa Beevi (70), wife of Hasankunju.

The incident happened at the Mundamoodu Junction at 6.50 am. They were knocked down by the private bus proceeding to Paravoor from Kottarakkara. The incident happened when the two were on their way to buy milk from a shop near their house.  Eyewitnesses said the accident happened when the bus was competing with a transport bus. A motorist also sustained minor injuries in the accident.

A tense situation is prevailing in the area after the incident. A hartal is being observed in the area.
