Assembly budget meeting from March 6

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy announced on Wednesday that Assembly budget meeting will begin on March 6 with the Governor’s address. Finance Minister K M Mani will make his budget speech on March 13. He was speaking at the cabinet briefing on the day.

When asked about Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan’s threat that the Left would organise people to lay siege to Secretariat, he retorted: “Don’t you know what happened when they laid siege last time. What democracy is this if it doesn’t allow the finance minister of the government that has a majority, to present the budget. If the Opposition plans bloodshed in its name, let us see that. Those who have made allegations against the Games, had not turned out to give evidence in the Solar case.”
The minister added that the term of the PSC rank list that ends on June 1 would be extended to one more year.
